Jackie
A Satoyama is like a paradise where the cooing of mountain doves echoes through the air.
Early spring is still cold
The light of spring mountains is dazzling
The sound of bird cages swaying
She searches and collects their feathers
Jackie was inspired by my friend Jackie, a jewelry artist from Olympia who is a loyal vendor at the Fremont Sunday Market. She makes jewelry from minerals, crystals, plants and all the beautiful things in such a unique way. One of Jackie's creations, a necklace of lovebird feathers in a little glass jar, had been a favorite of mine for a long time.
But what would she use the birdcages for? I deliberately didn't ask that part.
